Mass-flo installation

If the installation of the throttle device is required, such as the flow control valve, then the installation must be installed at the export of the Coriolis Mass Flow Meter. The Coriolis mass flow meter cost is not very cheap, so we need to take care of the flowmeters. The cut-off valves should be installed at the entry and the export of the Coriolis Mass Flowmeter.

And it is a benefit for the first-time zero point calibration after the installation. The fluctuation of the flow measurement would be caused by getting too close to the pumps. For the measurement of high-temperature liquid, and the heat preservation is required, the insulation shell and the heating pipe must not directly contact with the sensor of the Coriolis Mass Flow Meters.

Our company could provide the heat conduction specially designed for the Coriolis Mass Fow Meters Sensors. We could provide the steam heating, or the conduction oil heating. Do not apply pressure until electrical connections are made. When applying pressure to the system, take care to avoid pressure shocks and increase pressure gradually.

Ensure that the piping of the system is clean before installing the instrument. For absolute cleanliness always install filters to ensure a moisture and oil-free gas stream. It is recommended to install an in-line filter upstream of the mass flow meter or controller, and if back flow can occur, a downstream filter or check valve is recommended too.

Install the mass flow meter or controller in the line and tighten the fittings according to the instructions of the supplier of the fittings. Avoid small diameter piping on high flow rates, because the inlet jet flow will affect the accuracy and may cause too high pressure drops over the piping and adapters. Choosing the right piping diameter is also of importance to minimise the effect of turbulence as much as possible. Our previous blog describes the effect of turbulent flow and what to do about this.

Always check your system for leaks, before applying fluid pressure. Especially if toxic, explosive or other dangerous fluids are used. Apply power to the flow meter or controller and allow for approx. This may be done with or without fluid pressure, applied to the system. I hope that this list is of use. Please feel free to use it as a reference for the next time you need to install a mass flow meter or controller. In less critical installations where weigh tanks are not used, a master meter, such as another Coriolis or a turbine meter calibrated at a flow laboratory, can be used to calibrate the flow meter.

When a volumetric reference is used in calibrating a mass flow meter, the fluid density must be very precisely determined. Click here to learn more about the accuracy of the coriolis mass flow meters.
