Garmin ETrex 20 "system software missing". Hi all, I'm getting the dreaded system software missing message after my last update. I cannot get the unit to preboot, holding up on the stick only results in a longer delay before getting the message. Please advise if there is any way to rectify this. Thanks in advance. Googling it says it's for certain models, but the Etrex was not one of them. I'd download the Web Updater, and then let it inspect the device. I just tried Web updater, It tries recognises the device and attempts to do the update but fails saying the file is corrupted. It also gives a warning about making sure you have a fully charged set of batteries installed something Garmin Express does not do so that may have caused the problem.

I've just updated my eTrex 30 to 2. After the update is installed, the eTrex spends a few minutes sorting itself out on first boot, during which it's presumably running on battery power alone.
